Chapter 3: Spain's Hidden Love

Romano stared at Spain. He just called him cute?! Romano couldn't help but turn as red as a tomato. Spain started to laugh, and smiled brightly at Romano. Italy just sat on his bed, confused.
"What did Spain sa-"
"NOTHING!" Romano yelled.
Italy shrugged his shoulders and got out of bed. Romano pushed Spain out of the room, and followed him. While Italy was getting dressed, Romano started asking Spain a bunch of questions.
"Why did you call me cute?"
"'Cause you are"
"Do you like me or something?"
"What if I do?"
"I-I would, uhm"
Romano didn't know what to say. Like someone would dare to fall for a stubborn tomato-loving Italian boy. Italy and him were polar opposites, but they both loved each other, since they were brothers and all. But actually having someone else loving him? Romano just didn't get it, no one besides Italy would ever love him. Romano frowned and looked at the ground.
He knew Spain had to be kidding, he had to be, but was he? Was he really lying to him? Spain never lies, so this would be a first. Spain lifted Romano's chin, staring directly into his brown eyes. Spain smiled, and moved his head towards Romano's, and kissed him, passionately. Romano couldn't believe what was going on, Spain was kissing him! Romano flushed, his face looking identical to a tomato. Spain slowly removed his lips from Romano's.
"I love you, Romano"
Romano couldn't believe it, Spain did love him after all! Romano smiled, as stubborn as he is. He hugged Spain tight.
"Damn you Spanish freak,"
"Haha, my little Romano, you probably don't feel the same, but that won't change my feelings!"
"No, Spain"
"Huh?"
"I, I feel the s-same way, Spain"
Spain hugged Romano, smiling brightly as he usually does. While they were still hugging, Italy opened the door and exited, seeing Romano and Spain hugging. Romano jumped out of Spain's arms. Spain giggled a little, blushing. Italy was still confused as ever. Spain told Italy what happened and Romano slapped him. Spain and Italy laughed, and they all went downstairs for breakfast, Romano holding Spain's hand.
After breakfast, Italy went upstairs to wash his sticky hands from the syrupy pancakes. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, who could that be? Romano opened the door and gasped. There was a guy that look a lot like the Holy Roman Empire!
"HOLY ROME!!! YOU HAVE A LOT OF EXPLAINING TO DO!"
"Vwhat? I'm not Holy Rome, I'm Germany"
"Oh..."
Italy ran downstairs, he had heard Romano yell about Holy Rome. He thought he had finally come back for Italy! Italy was smiling brightly, which he hadn't done for years. When he saw Germany in the doorway, he was disappointed and fell to his knees, and tears flowed from his eyes. Romano looked behind him, and saw Italy crying. Romano ran towards Italy and hugged him.
"Oh Italy, I'm sorry..."
"I *sniff* though *sniff* it was *sniff* H-Holy *sniff* R-Rome!"
"I know Italy, I know"
"Uh, may I come in?"
"Yeah, sure"
Germany walked in to see Italy crying. He wanted to tell Italy that he had received a letter from Holy Rome.
"Italy, I wanted to tell you that, I received a letter from Holy Rome."
"WHAT!!!"
Germany handed the letter to Italy, and he read aloud.

  Dear my brother, Germany
  I have finally healed completely from the war, yes I am still alive. Surprising? Maybe, but I just wanted to say, if you know Italy, tell him that I'm coming back for him. I shall be there soon, my Italy. If you don't, go to Austria's house, and if he isn't there, ask them where he is and get this to Italy as soon as possible. I need to see my Italy again. It pains me how long I haven't seen him. It's been killing me inside.
        Italy was astonished
  Italy, if you're reading this, I love you my Italian boy. Yes, I did think you where a girl for a while, but gender doesn't matter for me. You're the one I fell in love with. I love everything about you. I love your brown hair, how it blows in the wind so swiftly. I love your brown eyes that you hardly open. I love the way you blush when you talk to me. I love your smile, it can light up the world, it's so bright that Rome can see it! I love your walk. I just love everything about my Italy. I'm sorry to have kept you waiting so long, all the tears you've cried because of me. I will never forgive myself for it. I hope you will love me back, even though I have caused you so much pain.
